Why were the Three Books of Enoch banned from the Bible?

They were originally banned by the Jews because Enoch foretold the 1st and 2nd  coming of Jesus Christ.

They were originally accepted in the early versions of the Christian Bible then banned in the 4th century.  It is still part of the Ethiopian Christian Bible.

The reason given was those who banned it decided that they were not divinely inspired, but maybe the following passage may be the real reason:-

 

Enoch tells of Ten Heavens.

 

This is the THIRD Heaven

2 Enoch 10:1-3

 

1   And the men led me up on the North side [of the 3rd heaven] and showed me there a terrible place, and there were every kind of           tortures in that place.........'

2   And I said: Woe, woe! This place is so terrible.

3   And those men said to me:  This place, O Enoch, is prepared for those who dishonour God, who on earth practice sin against nature, which is sodomy of a child, corruption of children, performing magic, enchantments and devilish witchcrafts, and who boast of their wicked deeds, stealing, lying, slander, envy, resentment, fornication, murder, and who accursed and steal the souls of men, and those who see the poor and still take away their goods so they grow rich, and injure them for others men's goods........'

 

The Books of Enoch - The Watchers and The Nephilim

1 Enoch

When the 'Modern' version of the Bible was established some books were removed, one of those books were the Books of Enoch. There are some references to Enoch in the Bible but in an abridged form which doesn't make sense in most cases as they are taken out of context. [It is still included in the Ethiopian Bible].

 

The reasons the papacy decided to remove it is mostly because it did not 'fit' with the papal view of what they [papacy] wanted their followers to know. Remember blind obedience was demanded, so they knew they would not be questioned.

 

Enoch is the great-grandfather of Noah

 

The books of Enoch go into greater detail of the 'Creation', the 'Flood', the 'Watchers' and the 'Nephilim'

Enoch 1 46:1 - 4

1...And there I saw One whose face looked ancient.  His head white with wool, and with Him was another being whose countenance had the appearance of a man, and His face was full of graciousness, like one of the holy angels.

 

2...And I asked the angel who went with me and showed me all the hidden things, concerning the Son of Man, who He was and where He came from, and why he went with the Ancient One?  And he answered and said to me:

 

3..."This is the Son of Man who hath righteousness, with whom dwells righteousness, and who reveals all the treasures of that which is hidden, because the Lord of spirits in righteousness and is forever.

 

4...And this Son of Man whom you have seen shall raise up the kings and the mighty from their seats, and the strong from their thrones and shall loosen the reins of the strong, and break the teeth of sinners".

  • Mathew 13:41   The Son of man shall send forth His angels, and they shall gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and them that do iniquity.

 

How many of you have actually heard your priests or vicars mention the Watchers or Nephilim?

  • The Watchers (Fallen Angels) - These were the Angels God sent down to Earth to watch over us humans. (Watchers were also called the Sons of God).
  • The Nephilim - Sons of the Watchers who mated with human women.

The leader of the watchers was Samyaza, he was in charge of 200 watchers.  When the Watchers saw the daughters of men they lusted after them and decided enmasse to defy the will of God and take the daughters of men as wives, they also taught men the 'Ways of the God's, secret knowledge of plants, the universe, the sun and moon etc. all was strictly against the will of God.

 

1 Enoch 6:2-3  And the angels, sons of heaven, saw and lusted after the daughters of men, saying to each other 'Let us take these women as our wives'. 'And have children with them.....'

1 Enoch 7:3  And the women became pregnant, and gave birth to giants, whose height was 3,000 cubits [3000 cubits would make them 450 feet tall - more likely Between 7 feet and 16 feet tall, Goliath was reportedly nearly 7 feet tall].

 

Genesis 6:2  That the sons of God saw the daughters were fair; and took them as wives of all which they choose.

Genesis 6:4  There were giants on the earth in those days; and also after that, when the son's of God mated with the daughters of men, and they bore children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown (Legend).

 

Genesis 6 - Tells the entire story of the Watchers and their sons, the Nephilim, including the story of Noah and the flood.  However there is a lot more to the story of the Watchers and the Nephilim.

Get your Bible out and read Genesis chapter 6, you will notice there is just a fleeting reference to the Watchers and Nephilim.

 

1 Enoch - The Watchers taught men the art of warfare, how to make weapons, how to work metals, astrology and many other things, all against the will of God.

The Nephilim took everything that men had made and worked for until very little was left, they became demons and started to devour men and then each other.
God saw the abomination on earth and decided to end the rule of the Watchers, Nephilim and man, with the exception of Noah and his family.

[The papacy did not want the full story of the Watchers and Nephilim to be known - this is just one of the reasons it was excluded].

2 Enoch

This is another extended version of Genesis where Enoch is taken up from Earth by Angels to multiple 'Heavens'.

Each heaven houses different people or angels waiting for Judgement Day.
